Dry Land Water Safety
Today, my class and I had Caleb to talk about water safety. He told us about different and important things about what we need if we're going out to a beach or a lake and why.
It's all too simple. We started off by talking about the safety things to learn on the beach. Like, keeping an adult or parent to be supervised at all times, sunblock, hat, towel and some spare clothes to finish off. Well, you know of course.
Caleb also told us to identify a rip. A rip is some sort of current going on and when you think you got caught in one you lie down and float while your hand up wide in a fist. Caleb explained the example to us and to never wave your hand around. The lifeguard thinks your acting silly in the water.
Caleb is a great, funny guy. I explained about the reasons and all that in a hilrious way of his. He's fun talk to and maybe he'll come back next year. Well, sooner or later.

About Me
Kia Ora, my name is Starbright. I am a 11 year old, a Year 7 student at Ahipara School.
My favourite subjects at Ahipara are, Writing and Reading. I like to write down stories of my own and can read big fat books at the library and have five other siblings.
I am very energetic at home and a brilliant dancer when I'm around music. I like to help around the house and is a teaser to my siblings.
Number 28
"Help! There's a giant robot that's going to attack me!" The robot named Number 28 came into view.
"Do not worry a bit. I will save you!" 28 scooped up the little boy into his gigantic, bolted arms.
"Thank you, 28. You look spectacular today."
The little boy stayed safely in his arms.
The two nemeses battled when the Earth shook every time they were pushed over from each other. Number 28 never gave up and was encouraged with the help of the little boy's parents.
"Go, 28! Go, go!" said the little boy.
Finally, Number 28 beaten his nemeses.
"You will not win every time, 28! One day, I'll have you back! And I know it!"
"Yeah, we'll see about that, huh?"
"Thank you for saving me back there, 28. You're my hero." said the little boy. "Oh, chucks, thanks. Anything I can do to help." And once again, the town's famous hero has saved the day.

Animal Poster
Animal Poster
For homework, we had to do a poster about an animal. Most of us did it at school. Anyway, we had to search up the animals we have chosen and find their appearance, habitat, facts and diet.
After we searched all of those things, we got to colour it in. We used colouring pencils, felts and sometimes vivid. Then we drew a sketch of the animals we had chosen. My animal is the Emperor Penguin.
What I like best of doing this work is researching different types of penguins.
Here's my poster.
Some people are not finished. But others are. Wait until you'll see everyone else's.

Speech Writing
This term, my class and I are doing speeches. It was also for our homework. We do speeches every year.
As I said before, our task for homework is speeches. We choose a topic or a made up one of our own. My topic is about why pets deserve the same care as us.
When were finished with it we share it out to the class. If we don't want to we can just say it out to a teacher or adult.
After that, students all over the school get to read their speech out. Sometimes we can be nervous when were on stage but we just do what we got to do.
Sometimes speeches can be hard but once we get the hand of it we know what to do.

My Review Book
My favourite book seris are Roahl Dahl. His best one is Maltilda which I read all the time. The book is really thrilling, exciting, sometimes a bit scary. It's about a special 6 1/2 year old girl with a lovely teacher named Miss Honey and both faced off Miss Honey's aunty AKA Miss TruchBull.
I hope others will read this book cause, this will blow your mind. Maltilda has alot of tricks on her sleeve when it comes to parent bullying and a stupid brother that dosent care about her. So, she use her mind and suddenly she has power in her. If this special chracter is in real life and you bullied her on her first day of school, then you better watch your back when your rude to her cause she knows what she's up to.
That's what I like about her. She's furious, smart, intelligent girl and her personalitly is awesome! I cant get over her. She's one of the most coolest chracters I have ever heard!

Making Gliders
In Room 4, we have been doing science experiments about how gliders work by testing them outside and finding out who's glider flies the furthest. We used straws and 2 strips of coloured paper.
First, we draw lines for the 2 strips and firmly cut them out. After that, there will be one big strip and one small strip in your hand. They'll both be circular shaped.
Next, we had to make sure that the two strips are strong enough for the test outside. We then grabbed ourselves straws and used tape to make sure they'll work.
After practising for a few minutes, Mrs Cutler announced for the test. We all lined up on one line until we were all quiet and silent. Mrs Cutler blew the whistle that was around her neck.
After going for a few rounds, we finally had a winner. Everyone was fine with it and went back to class. Mrs Cutler told us to write about what happened in our science booklets. After that, we went out for refuel while playing around our gliders.
Gif Making
My class and I did Gif Making. By making them we had to use shapes and images. In each slide a shape or image is moved to a different direction but in the same spot.
We all made diffrent ones. Some were short while others were long.

The value of animals
Today, Mrs Hubbard and Starbright talked about animals that represent different values.
It was fun to talk about how the animal connects to the value because of who they are. An example is the card that shows a horse and it's value was loyal. Starbright chose these three values for herself -the owl as wise, the wolf as powerful and the cat as independent.
We talked about times when she would show these values, it was fun to hear how Starbright likes to share her wisdom with her sister and tell jokes at home! Awesome, Starbright.
We also learned about the power of a wolf, and that the pack leader is not at the front but at the back because he/her protects and cares for his/her pack. We didn't know that and we were shocked to learn this!
Lastly, we watched a video about how wolves were put back into a national park in America and how the wolves changed that place. They made this park become balanced again after being away for 70 years. We really liked to see how the wolf had a good impact on the animals and even the rivers! Wow!
I really enjoyed learning with you, Starbright. Thanks for being you!

Baking Cookies Together
Starbright along with her friends Roseanna-Bell, Kelsie and Mia decided to make some delicious cookies for their classmates.
Starbright, I loved the way you all worked together as a team. You helped to solve problems when things were too big like the chocolate and also encouraged each other with the care you took in following the recipes.
The two types of cookies turned out amazing! They were cooked just right so they were nice and soft and not too hard. I know that your classmates really enjoyed what you all made, Starbright. You have such a caring heart and to share all your delicious cookies showed that to them.
I can't wait for the next baking session with you and your friends!
Mrs. H
